Mysore/Mysuru: Littérateur Mahantappa Nandur has bagged the coveted ‘Sri Shivarathree-shwara Award’ given by Jagadguru Shiva-ratreeshwara Religious Endowment Trust, Mysuru.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a citation. Nandur gets the award for his work titled ‘Arive Pramaanu- Akkanagamma Jeevanakavya.’
Mahantappa Nandur, who is a Railway employee, hails from Kalaburagi district. After serving as a lecturer for some time, he joined the Railways.
A passionate writer, Nandur has many works to his credit, including Doorada Pada, Jeeva Kolalu, Kalyanavemba Pranati, Ananda Ninada, Naada Lokada Puttaraja Gavaiigalu and Udakadolagana Benki.
The award is being given by the Trust every year since 1983 for best works and so far, 31 books have been selected for the award in the past 37 years.
