Extended National Executive Committee meeting held in city

Mysuru: General Secretary of National Federation of Telecom Employees (NFTE- BSNL) and Trade Union leader Chandeshwara Singh has urged the Union Government to bail out public sector telecom entity Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) from its financial and management crisis.

He was speaking at the Extended National Executive Committee meeting organised by National Federation of Telecom Employees- BSNL, Karnataka Circle held at Regional Telecom Training Centre (RTTC) in city this morning.

He said that as the crisis still continued, employees and officers in majority of the Circles have not been paid their salary properly. The company management says that they do not have the cash flow for the payment of the salaries for about 1.68 lakh employees.

Like all the telecom service providers except for Reliance Jio, the revenue earnings of BSNL have drastically dipped, due to the brutal tariff war initiated by Reliance Jio. As BSNL is facing financial crunch due to the certain market condition, the company is not able to pay salary to its employees. The tariff war will continue for some more time.

“BSNL needs the support of the Central Government to overcome the crisis. The BJP-led Modi government, however, is not ready to extend their helping hands to the ailing BSNL”, he alleged.

He said that Federation will fight unitedly against all moves of Union Government of removing existing employees and sacking both executive and non-executive employees.

In his address, Chief General Manager, Telecom BSNL Karnataka Circle, Bengaluru Sushil Kumar Mishra called upon the employees to upgrade their knowledge and technical skills to fight against private telecom players as there is all possibility of Union Government revamping BSNL.

Over 1,500 employees across the country participated in the programme.
