December 13, 2024

Srirangapatna: A gang of rowdies allegedly hacked to death a bakery owner with lethal weapons at KRS yesterday evening. The murder took place just 200 to 300 mts distance from KRS Police Station.

The deceased is Chethan (40), a native of Basavarajapura village in K.R. Nagar taluk, who was running the bakery near KRS Jathra Grounds since many years.

A gang of three to four miscreants, who came on bikes, threw bakery items on the road and when Chethan came near the bakery, the gang hacked him with lethal weapons and fled from the scene. Chethan, who sustained serious injuries, was being rushed to a hospital by neighbouring shopkeepers but he is said to have breathed his last midway.

KRS Police Station is just 200 to 300 metres away from the crime spot and the place is always busy. But the murder taking place in the busy place has shocked the public, who alleged that the menace of anti-social elements has increased in KRS and surrounding places and the Police have completely failed in controlling the menace.

In recent days, photos of Police officers taking part in events along with rowdy-sheeters had gone viral on social media. With Police officers clicking photos with anti-social elements, it seems that rowdy elements have no fear of Police leading to such incidents that too in a prominent tourist destination. These anti-social elements also target tourists and the Police have turned a blind eye towards it, public said.
