Gonikoppa: A bridegroom cannot wear the traditional Kodava attire in the marriage if a Kodava woman marries a man belonging to a caste other than a Kodava, said Balele Kodava Samaja President Malachira Bose Chittiappa.
He said that a resolution in this regard has been passed during the recently held meeting of the Samaja at Balele.
“Also, the man who is into an intercaste marriage, cannot hold the Gejje Tand nor wear the Kupya-chele, Peeche-kathi and Mande-thuni. Such practices, which dilute the sanctity of Kodava tradition, will not be appreciated,” he said and added that the Samaja will not rent its hall for such weddings.
