Ballari clashes: Now, DIGP Vartika  Katiyar transferred

Ballari: DIGP (Ballari Range) Vartika Katiyar was transferred today, making her the second IPS Officer to face action in relation to the recent Ballari clashes, in which a Congress party worker died of gunshot injuries.

Another IPS Officer Dr. P.S Harsha, who was waiting for posting, has replaced Vartika Katiyar as DIGP (Ballari Range), while Suman D. Pennekar has been brought in as a Superintendent of Police (SP). She was serving as DCP (Intelligence), Bengaluru. Meanwhile, Katiyar has been shifted as DIGP, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE), Bengaluru.

Following the clashes on  Jan. 1, SP Pavan Nejjur had been suspended on the charges of dereliction of duty.
