Mysore/Mysuru: Conservator of Forests (CF), Mysuru Circle, Dr. M. Malathi Priya has suggested the University of Mysore (UoM) to take measures towards banning plastic water bottles at its constituent colleges.
Dr. Malathi Priya was addressing the gathering after planting a sapling during the Vanamahotsava programme organised as part of World Environment Day celebrations by Vishwamanava Mysuru Vishwavidyanilaya Naukarara Vedike and Nava Vishwamanava Trust at Maharaja’s College campus in the city recently.
Pointing out at the green rich Maharaja’s College with trees and plants, Dr. Malathi Priya said, it is laudable that measures have been taken to maintain the green cover which contributes towards creating a pleasant atmosphere in the campus. But, the plastic water bottles were found littered. Hence it is essential to prohibit the usage of plastic water bottles and carry bags considered as hazardous to environment at the campus.
