Banks accused of delay in releasing funds for beneficiaries

January 16, 2018

Mysuru: The lethargic attitude of Banks in releasing funds and subsidies to beneficiaries of various Government schemes came to the fore at the Zilla Panchayat’s (ZP) monthly KDP Progress review meeting at the ZP Hall here recently.

ZP Social Welfare Standing Committee Chairman Beerihundi Basavanna who raised the issue at the meeting, said there were many complaints of Bank authorities making the beneficiaries to run from pillar to post for extending loans.

Pointing out that the Zilla Panchayat has released Rs. 5.40 crore for extending loans to unemployed persons, he questioned the lethargic attitude of Bank officials in releasing loans.

ZP Planning officer Prabhuswamy said that 1,356 persons out of the 5,642 beneficiaries have been extended loans and 4,277 beneficiaries were in line to get loans. Some ZP members said that there were complaints of some teachers unnecessarily spending time at Gurubhavans, following which the authorities concerned were directed to take action against such teachers.

A few ZP members raised the issue of lack of doctors in some Primary Health Centres of the district.

The DHO said that doctors are being appointed on contract basis and 80 Ayurveda Doctors had attended the interview.

ZP members Beerihundi Basavanna and Dayananda Murthy suggested to appoint Ayurveda Doctors who were willing to serve in rural areas.

A Food and Civil Supplies Department official who attended the meeting, said that a total of 19,872 beneficiaries from the district have been selected for the Chief Minister’s ‘Anila Bhagya’ scheme,  out of which 6,322 beneficiaries will get LPG connection in the first phase.
