Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Shivakumara Kala Sangha of Sanehalli village in Hosadurga taluk of Chitradurga district has organised staging of plays on Basaveshwara and other Sharanas under the programme ‘Basavadi Sharanara Darshana’ in all 31 districts of the State simultaneously on Nov. 15. Accordingly, the play ‘Shivasharane Neelambika’ will be staged in Mysuru on Nov. 15.
Senior journalist Amshi Prasannakumar released the posters of the drama at Pathrakartara Bhavan recently.
Kadamba Rangavedike President Rajashekar Kadamba, who spoke on the occasion, said that Sanehalli’s Sri Shivakumara Kala Sangha has given opportunity to local theatre groups of the district to stage plays on Basaveshwara and other Sharanas. “In Mysuru, our Kadamba Rangavedike will stage the play ‘Shivasharane Neelambika’ at Kirurangamandira in Kalamandira premises on Nov. 15 at 7 pm,” he added.
“The duration of the drama is about 100 minutes and entry will be free. In all districts, dramas about different Sharanas will be staged. However, Basavanna will be the central character in all the dramas,” said Kadamba.
Amshi Prasannakumar, who too spoke on the occasion, said that the philosophy and ideals of Basavanna and other Sharanas are relevant even today.
The dramas to be staged on Nov. 15 will highlight the ideals of Basaveshwara and other Sharanas, he added.
Cine actor Shankar Ashwath also spoke on the occasion.
Kadamba Rangavedike Vice-President U.S. Ramanna, Treasurer D. Thippanna and Secretary Subbunarasimha were present at the press meet.
