Sir,
The Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) in Vijayanagar and Saraswathipuram have recently re-opened after the lockdown was relaxed in Mysuru. The ASK had announced that only applicants with online appointments will be accepted. So there is a rush to get appointments from the Cyber Centres.
It has been observed that some Cyber Centres are allegedly exploiting the unsuspecting public while booking appointments.
Firstly, they are charging amounts varying from Rs. 50 to Rs. 200 for just booking an appointment, whereas UIDAI has not laid down any charges for booking an appointment. At the most they may charge Rs. 10 or Rs. 20 for their expertise to book the appointment and print out the appointment slip.
Secondly, the Cyber Centres are allegedly booking fake appointments for date and time slots which are already booked. This is done by manipulating the appointment slip. When the applicant goes to the ASK he finds that his appointment is not valid and is asked to get a fresh valid appointment.
It is also seen that some tempo drivers are bringing people in groups for update of Aadhaar card and charging them heavily for this service. The general public are requested to be cautious while going to such Cyber Centres for appointments.
At present, the ASKs are open from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm and remain closed on Sundays as part of the Sunday Curfew till Aug. 2.
