Beef-eating row at Kalamandira: Minister Umashree seeks report

Bengaluru/Mysuru: Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree has sought a report with regard to consumption of beef during a function organised at Maneyangala in Kalamandira recently.

Sources said that Minister Umashree had instructed Kannada and Culture Director M.S. Archana to file a report on the issue which occurred during a seminar organised by one of the organisations in Mysuru. Besides seeking information on what legal action could be taken against those involved, the Minister is said to have informed the officials that eating beef inside Kalamandira was violation of rules.

Meanwhile, Department of Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Channappa speaking to Star of Mysore said that he had already filed a report regarding the same to the higher officials.

He said that since the matter had come to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner, action would be taken against those involved. It is said that the organisation which had held the event was getting grants from Kannada and Culture Department.
