Beggar woman who had donated Rs.2.5 lakh to Temple dies

Mysuru: Seethalakshmi (92), a beggar woman who had donated Rs.2.5 lakh to Prasanna Anjaneyaswamy Temple in Vontikoppal here, passed away due to age related illness in city on Monday night.

As age caught up, Seethalakshmi became weak and was unable to do work, she was usually seen sitting at the entrance of the Prasanna Anjaneyaswamy Temple and the devotees would give her money which she had managed to save.

During last Ganesha festival, Seethalakshmi had donated Rs.30,000 to the Temple and was even felicitated during Ganesha festival by MLA Vasu.

On November last, she surprised everyone by donating Rs.2 lakh to the Temple Trust and as a mark of gratitude, the Temple authorities had erected a board in front of the Temple along with her photograph, telling people of her noble deed.

Her body was brought to the residence of her brother at Yadavagiri, where people including Corporator Nagabushan paid their last respects.

Last rites were held at Chirashantidhama in Gokulam here yesterday.

It may be recalled that Star of Mysore had published a report about Seethalakshmi donating money to the temple titled  ‘Poor In Status, Rich In Charity’ on Nov. 21, 2017.
