Mysur: Dr. G. Krishnappa, retired RTO and a renowned Bendre scholar, gave a talk in Kannada on the unique use of language in Bendre’s poetry recently at Dhvanyaloka on Bogadi Road in city.
In a scintillating lecture that lasted more than one-and-a half-hour, the speaker drew the attention of the audience to the most important features of Bendre’s poetry that distinguished him as a class apart.
Krishnappa dwelt on the various layers of meaning that emerged from the poet’s seemingly simple but complex nature of words and images. The speaker kept the listeners spellbound with both his eloquence and erudition testifying to his extensive research in this most difficult and challenging area.
Earlier, Prof. C.N. Srinath, Director, Dhvanyaloka, welcomed and introduced the speaker as “Bendre Krishnappa,” a sobriquet he had earned, thanks to his contribution towards not merely writing and lecturing on Bendre but promoting him with extraordinary commitment.
