Mysuru: Around 1,000 beneficiaries of various welfare schemes announced by the State Government took part in the ‘Jana Mana’ programme organised by District Administration at Kalamandira this morning.
Inaugurating the programme, District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa said that ‘Jana-Mana’ was a unique event which was a test for an elected government.
“The Siddharamaiah-led government, which came to power with 165 promises in its manifesto prior to 2013 Assembly Polls, as almost fulfilled the promises”, he said.
Taking a dig at the previous government, the Minister said that Siddaramaiah had given a stable government for the past four years compared to the previous State Government which had three different Chief Ministers during its rule. “Our government has been working for the welfare of the people irrespective of their caste and community. We have successfully completed four years and will work to retain the confidence of the people for the next one year”, said Mahadevappa.
Later, the District Administration conducted an interaction programme with the Minister during which a few of the beneficiaries expressed their opinion about various welfare schemes.
People of Varuna constituency, which is represented by CM Siddharamaiah, demanded the Minister to provide them with kerosene. They said that the supply of kerosene had been stopped as they had LPG connections.
In his reply, Mahadevappa said that they had no objection to provide them kerosene provided their panchayat gave the green signal. There were also complaints about the quality of salt provided to people under the Anna Bhagya. One of beneficiaries, Rathnamma said that the salt supplied to them had foul smell.
Sahana and Ganesh, who availed the benefits of Vidyasiri scheme, thanked the State Government for introducing this scheme which helped them complete II PUC. Chandini, a transgender, urged that Government to increase the monthly pension of Rs. 500 under the Mythri scheme.
Students, who thanked the State Government for introducing ‘Ksheera Bhagya’, requested the authorities to introduce chocolate flavoured milk.
Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, Legislators M.K. Somashekar, Vasu and R. Dharmasena, Zoo Authority of Karnataka Chairman Mallige Veeresh, MyLac Chairman H.A. Venkatesh, CACA (Cauvery) Chairman Nanjappa and other officials were present.
