Murder accused to be brought to Mysuru from Salem today
Mysuru: The Rajajinagar Police of Bengaluru are bringing cab driver S. Indusekhar alias Arjun Indusekhar, 52, arrested for allegedly murdering seven members of his wife’s family, from Salem in Tamil Nadu to Mysuru this evening to search for one of the bodies reportedly dumped near Chamundi Hill.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly told Police that he had disposed of one of the bodies near Chamundi Hill, prompting plans for a search operation in the area.
Meanwhile, reports received at 2.15 pm today indicated that a body had been found near Khoday Guest House atop Chamundi Hill.
A Police team is rushing to the spot to secure the area and prepare for a mahazar and inquest. Police sources, however, are tight-lipped about the discovery and are awaiting confirmation from the team at the spot, which reportedly alerted them about the presence of a body near the guest house.
The 7 victims are Indusekhar’s wife Sunitha (40), her mother Roopavati (65), her brothers Shivakumar (30) and Shankar (44), their wives Divya (30) & Nalini (29) and Shivakumar’s seven-year-old son Puneeth.
The accused is suspected of killing them and dumping their bodies at different locations.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Indusekhar called Sunitha’s family members to his house individually over a period of 15 to 20 days and allegedly killed them using a grinding stone.
Police suspect that frequent disputes over Sunitha’s visits to her parental home led to the murders. He had reportedly invited two of her brothers to his house under the pretext of a party before allegedly killing them.
Investigators also suspect that the accused attempted to destroy evidence by chemically cleaning the crime scenes. The case came to light after a missing persons complaint filed at Srirampura Police Station in Bengaluru led investigators to uncover the murders.
The accused reportedly told investigators that he had thrown one of the bodies among rocks along a route leading up Chamundi Hill. However, preliminary checks by beat Police personnel did not reveal any rocky stretch matching his description along the Chamundi Hill Road.
Investigators also examined other possible locations along the route between Nandi and Uthanahalli, where rocky stretches have been identified.
Forest Department personnel are expected to join the search after the accused is brought to Mysuru. Watchtowers and binoculars will be used to scan the terrain, while officials are also expected to look for other clues.
The Rajajinagar Police told Star of Mysore that a team was expected to leave Salem this afternoon with the accused and bring him to Mysuru. However, Mysuru Police personnel said, they had not received any official communication about the operation.
