Mysuru: Owners of swanky cars are losing sleep over a new kind of robbery as miscreants, who were earlier stealing music systems, speakers and other items from cars, are now targeting logos of luxury cars such as Benz, BMW, Audi etc., in city.
It has now come to light that miscreants, who steal the logos of parked luxury cars, are selling them at scrap yards (gujari). Those who buy these logos from the miscreants are selling them for higher price and making huge profits, which has become a business now, said a person who wished to remain anonymous. He alleged that despite trying to lodge complaints, the cops were not registering the complaint due to lack of proof.
If experts are to be believed, youngsters might be doing it for their personal collection, but increasing practise also hints at the possibility of an organised gang at work.
Auto experts claim that such logos can be bought at half their prices at the scrap yard.
