Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha of N. Anusha Raj on Feb. 8

Mysuru/Mysore: The tradition of Rangapravesha has been practiced from the period of Gurukul system till day. N. Anusha Raj, a disciple of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, will be presenting her Arangetram on Feb. 8 at Jaganmohan Palace at 6 pm. The entry to the event is free.

Artiste’s Profile: Vidushi N. Anusha Raj showed her talents, at the tender age of 7. Her father, R. Narayan, an ex-serviceman in the Indian Army and her mother, Shashirekha, resided in Ajmer in her early years. Anusha began her Bharatanatyam journey under the tutelage of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy. Anusha holds a Vidwat degree in Bharatanatyam. 

Throughout her dance career, Anusha has performed at many dance events like Chiguru Sanje, Pallavotsava, International Travel Day, Ramanavami festivities at Vellore, and many more. She has also performed on several reputed platforms in over 20 cities across India.

Anusha also trains in yoga under the guidance of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, which has complemented her endurance and poise in dance. She is trained in vocal music by Vidushi Saraswathi Raghavan, a noted musician.  Anusha has also displayed her talents in the field of theatre by playing vital roles in the plays like Ekachakranagara and Bitta Payanava Bidade. A feather in her cap is playing the lead role of the danseuse Balasaraswathi in the play Balasaraswathi- Natyasaraswathi which won the accolade of the critics. She has also worked in the aspects of music and choreography which have broadened her spheres and enriched her with knowledge and experience. 

Anusha has always struck a balance between her passion and academics. Being a distinction student throughout her academic career, she is now doing her post-graduation in Physics at JSS College, Ooty Road, Mysuru.
