Bharatanatyam workshop at Ganabharathi on Sept. 10, 11

A two-day workshop on Bharatanatyam by Guru Vidushi B. Bhanumati has been organised by Ganabharathi on Sept.10 and Sept. 11 from 6 pm to 9 pm at its premises in Kuvempunagar.  

The workshop will be on “Proper Approaches to Learning, Teaching and Performance in Bharatanatyam.” This has been specially organised for the students and teachers of Bharatanatyam in Mysuru to facilitate an in-depth dialogue, practical approach to learning and teaching Bharatanatyam.

Eligibility: Minimum age for participating in the workshop is 15 years. Candidates should have passed minimum Senior-level training in Bharatanatyam.

Profile: Guru B. Bhanumati was born in a musically inclined family. Her mother Isaimani L. R. Lakshmi was a noted composer and father Dr. C. S. Balakrishnan, a zealous promoter of the cause of Indian Classical Music.

She has had the privilege of the tutelage of legends like Padma Shri K. N. Dandayuthapani Pillai at Chennai, Padma Bhushan Dr. K. Venkatalakshamma, the doyenne of Mysore Palace tradition and Padma Bhushan Kalanidhi Narayanan.

The popular group dance troupe ‘Bharatanjali’ formed under her guidance has performed over 1,000 shows in all major national dance festivals of India and has also visited the United Kingdom and the United States.
