BHASANGE Balaga to host Veena recital in memory of S.R. Krishnamurthy on Dec. 16

Bhanuvaara Sanje Geleyara Balaga has organised a music programme in memory of noted art critic S.R. Krishnamurthy (SRK) on the occasion of his 5th death anniversary, on Sunday, 16th December at 6 pm at Vasudevacharya Bhavana, JLB Road, Mysuru.

Vidwan. R.K. Padmanabhaa will present Karnatak classical Veena recital accompanied by Vid. Kumara Swamy on mridanga and Vid. V. S. Ramesh on ghata.

Vidwan Padmanabhaa hails from a family of great musicians from past many generations. He is the son of renowned Mysore Asthana Vidwan R.S. Keshavamurthy. Padmanabhaa had a strong penchant for music in his tender age and got trained in vocal as well as Veena from his father. Endowed with rich talent, Padmanabhaa has distinction amongst the fellow artistes for his melodious play, mastery over the instrument and adroitly dexterous fingering techniques. One can find a blend of traditional and modernity in his rendition.

His Veena named, Kanaka Rajatha Saraswthi Akananda Veena, is primordial and priceless art craft of Vainika Praveena Bhakshi Subbanna, the guru of R.S. Keshavamurthy. The gold idol of Goddess Saraswathi has been installed in the Veena in accordance with the injunctions of Agama Shastra. The veena is exquisitely ornate of gold and silver. It is made of single log of jack wood hence called Akhanda Veena. The enchanting sound of this veena is very unique. Subbanna presented this veena to his beloved disciple R.S. Keshavamurthy with full of blessings. Padmanabhaa was fortunate enough to receive this sacred instrument from his elder brothers.

Padmanabhaa has been performing in various prestigious platforms across the globe and spreading the fragrance of Indian classical music. He has received Vainika Ratna, Veena Visharada, Veena Vaadana Chatura, Veena Swara Vilasi, Vainika Vidyabhushana and many other titles. Presently, Padmanabhaa is teaching Karnatak vocal and Veena thereby preparing the musicians of tomorrow.

Bhasange Balaga solicits presence of all music-lovers.
