Mysore/Mysuru: Strengthening access to patient-centric oncology services, Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology (BHIO) yesterday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Cancer Day Care Clinic at Kuvempunagar.
The facility was formally opened by Dr. B.S. Ajaikumar, Chairman of BHIO, marking a significant step in delivering efficient and compassionate cancer care in the region.
The clinic adopts a day care treatment model, enabling patients to receive advanced therapies without prolonged hospitalisation. This approach is expected to reduce treatment costs and emotional stress, while allowing patients to maintain their daily routines with minimal disruption.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ajaikumar stressed the importance of timely, affordable and high-quality cancer care. He underlined that early diagnosis and prompt intervention are key to improving outcomes, adding that the new centre reflects BHIO’s commitment to making advanced oncology services accessible to a wider population with empathy and dignity.
Anjali Ajaikumar, Director of BHIO, said that the initiative is rooted in a patient-first philosophy. “Our goal is to bring world-class oncology care closer to the community while ensuring comfort, convenience and continuity,” she said.
The facility is equipped to offer chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy, along with comprehensive supportive care. It includes consultation rooms, a dedicated day care surgery unit for minor procedures and observation beds for post-treatment monitoring.
