Bike rider injured as plant creeper encircles tyre

Mysore/Mysuru: In a bizarre incident, a bike rider sustained injuries after his bike skidded when a plant creeper encircled a tyre of his two-wheeler while crossing a  road-hump near Manuganahalli check-post on Mysuru-Hunsur Road on Thursday morning.

The youth was reportedly proceeding on the bike from Yelwal to Bilikere when the self-accident occurred  and his identity was not immediately known.

Even as the youth lied on the road with profuse bleeding caused by head injuries after he fell off from the bike which skidded after the overgrown plant creeper that stretched on to the road encircled one of the tyres, neither the onlookers, passersby  nor the locals made any attempts to shift him to a hospital. But K.R. Nagar MLA S.R. Mahesh, who happened to pass by in his car at the same time, got down from his car after seeing the injured youth lying on the road and called an ambulance. The ambulance which arrived at the spot from Yelwal within minutes, rushed the injured youth to a Hospital at Mysuru.

The MLA, who was travelling to his constituency K.R. Nagar, was appalled to see the callousness of by-standers who did not come forward to immediately call an ambulance and shift the bleeding youth to a hospital.

Meanwhile, the jurisdictional Bilikere Police said on Thursday that the injured youth has been admitted to a hospital in Mysuru and not much details about him was known right now as the Police are yet to get a memo from the Hospital.
