‘BJP Government failed to handle vaccine distribution’

Hunsur: KPCC Women’s Wing President Dr. Pushpa Amaranth has urged the State Government to create jobs for daily wagers under the MGNREGA by increasing the present 100 days to 200 days due to current total lockdown.

Addressing a press meet here  on Friday, she also wanted the Government to double the current wages from Rs. 273 which will help daily wagers.

“The second wave of COVID-19 pandemic was sweeping across the country and both State and Union Governments have failed to manage it. The Governments should have been in alert mode when the first wave struck the nation last year. The suggestion given by Opposition parties were taken with a pinch of salt and it resulted in death of innocent people,” she said.

“To win praises in the global scenario, Prime Minister Narendra Modi donated vaccine to other nations. This has made India face acute shortage of vaccine for the countryman,” she alleged.

She said that those who left Bengaluru before imposition of lockdown, spread Corona to rural areas. The situation in Bengaluru would not have been so worse had the Government looked after the needs of migrants. The Government must post Nodal Officers to Indira Canteens to streamline its functioning.

“PM Modi could have boosted the morale of people by taking the vaccine first which was not done. CM Yediyurappa, who claimed his Government as double engine, had failed to procure sufficient quantity of vaccine.

Only 20 percent population in the State had been vaccinated and still it has a long way to go,” she noted.
