BJP Mahila Morcha stages protest against MLA Priyank Kharge

Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly condemning the insulting remarks made by Congress MLA Priyank Kharge, who had claimed that employment seeking women are asked for sexual favours by those in the BJP Government, members of Mysuru City and District BJP Mahila Morcha staged a demonstration in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s bust opposite the District Law Courts Complex here on Thursday.

Addressing the protestors, the Morcha City President Hema Nandeesh said that the BJP has appointed tribal woman Droupadi Murmu as the President of India and has inducted many women in the Union Cabinet, out of respect for women. But Priyank Kharge’s remarks are an insult to womanhood, she said and sought the resignation of Priyank as MLA.

Contending that Priyank Kharge, who is also a former Minister, should have controlled his tongue while making such demeaning remarks, she warned of intensifying the protest if the MLA does not resign.

BJP  District President Mangala Somashekar, office-bearers Dr. Prafulla Malladi, Nagarathna Gowda, Asha Lakshminarayan, Kaveri Nagaraj, Saraswathi Prasad, Yashoda Raju, Padmashri, Mamatha Chandrashekar, Tanuja Mahesh and others took part in the protest yesterday.
