Chamarajanagar: Senior BJP leader and the party’s Chamarajanagar (SC) Lok Sabha candidate V. Sreenivasa Prasad has expressed confidence that the BJP would win Mysuru-Kodagu and Chamarajanagar LS seats.
Addressing a meeting of party leaders and workers at Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Kalyana Mantapa in the town yesterday, Prasad exuded confidence that the BJP would get lead in all eight Assembly segments of Chamarajanagar LS seat and also retain the Mysuru-Kodagu LS seat, which the party had won in 2014.
Noting that the LS campaign is getting hotter by the day, Prasad said the meeting was convened to discuss strategies to taken on coalition candidates. Maintaining that he saw a clamour among the people to have leaders like PM Narendra Modi and State BJP Chief B.S. Yeddyurappa, Prasad asked the party leaders and workers to follow model code of conduct while campaigning and also that no village or hamlet is left out in the campaign.
Alleging that the coalition Government in the State was misusing power, he said that both the Congress and the JD-S would be taught a lesson in the LS polls. He also lashed out at former MP Kagalawadi Shivanna, who quit the BJP recently to join the Congress.
Accusing Shivanna of making crores of rupees during a no-confidence motion against the then Union Government years ago, Prasad alleged that Shivanna became Safai Karmachari Commission Chairman by falling at the feet of the then UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Advocate M. Chinnaswamy and APMC member Kagalawadi Shivakumar joined the BJP on the occasion.
Party in-charge of Chamarajanagar M. Rajendra, leaders Prof. K.R. Mallikarjunappa, C. Guruswamy, Dr. Bharathishankar, S. Mahadevaiah, M. Ramachandra, C. Basavegowda, Hanumantha Shetty, Mallesh, Veerabhadraswamy and others were attended.
