Mysuru: Expressing disappointment over the slow progress of work on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan in Mysuru, City JD(S) President SBM Manju, also a former Corporator, has urged the authorities to blacklist the contractor for the delay.
Addressing a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan recently, he said construction of Dr. Ambedkar Bhavan on Dewan’s Road began in 2012-13. However, even after more than 13 years, the Bhavan is yet to be completed, which is disappointing, he said. He urged the authorities to blacklist the contractor for the inordinate delay in completing the project.
Referring to the street dog menace in city, Manju urged the MCC authorities to take suitable measures to address the problem and provide relief to pedestrians and motorists.
Questioning the MCC’s order requiring groups installing Ganesha idols on city streets to pay a fee of Rs. 300 per day, Manju said this was probably the first time that the MCC had issued such an order and termed it a way of “looting the public.”
He also said that houses covered under the ‘Jal Bhagya’ scheme had earlier been exempted from paying water bills. However, residents of these houses were now shocked to receive bills covering several years and demanding payment in one go.
Manju urged the MCC Commissioner to waive the past water bills and collect only the current bill from the residents.
