Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, Jnanpith awardee Girish Karnad, former Union Minister P. Chidambaram and cricketer Javagal Srinath to take part
Mysuru: The Mysuru Literary Forum Charitable Trust & Book Clubs-2015 has organised Mysuru Literature Festival-2017 at Wind Chimes in Nazarbad here on June 4.
Jnanpith Awardee and playwright, filmmaker Girish Karnad will be the guest speaker. He will inaugurate the event with Dr. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar at 9.30 am.
The Festival will close with valedictory address by former Union Finance, Home Minister and Rajya Sabha MP P. Chidambaram who will talk on ‘power and accountability’ from his latest book at 5.15 pm.
Announcing this at a press meet in city, Trust Chairperson Shubha Sanjay Urs said that around 25 authors, including Vivek Shanbagh, Vanamala Vishwanatha, Aroon Raman, Mahesh Rao, Vasudhendra, Vikram Sampath, Zac O’Yeah, Aditya Sinha, Air Marshall Nanda Cariappa, Manu Pillai, Suresh Menon and Yamini Muthanna, will take part in the day-long Festival.
Mysuru’s literary names like Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, Aroon Raman, Mahesh Rao, Preethi Nagaraj, Alaka Kattemane, Prithvi Datta Chandra Shobhi, upcoming authors like Pranav Shivanna and Siddarth Ganesh will also be part of the panels of authors and experts.
There will be eight panel discussions — five in English and three in Kannada.
Former international cricketer Javagal Srinath will participate in the session on cricket along with Suresh Menon and R. Kaushik from Wisden India. As part of the social responsibility (CSR), the Trust has decided to sponsor a girl child in her education under the project “Enable Her.”
