Book Fair-2017 held at St. Philomena’s College

Mysuru: A book exhibition was organised by the Department of Kannada, St. Philomena’s Degree College (Autonomous), Mysuru, in coordination with the Dramatic and Literary Committee of the College, in the college premises recently.

The book fair was initiated by Navakarnataka Publications, the reputed publishers and distributors of  books, Mysuru.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Bernard P. Barnis, Rector and Manager of the college in the presence of Rev. Dr. M. Vincent, Principal, St. Philomena’s PU college, N. K. Satyanarayana, Manager, Navakarnataka and others.

The main purpose of this exhibition was to acquaint and familiarise the students to inculcate and promote reading habits. Navakarnataka showcased around 50,000 books from Literature to History, Management to Science, Current Affairs to Showbiz.

On the occasion, two books were released by Rev. Fr. Bernard P. Barnis — ‘Vanaprastha’ written by noted writer G.N.Devi which is translated to Kannada by Chandrakantha Pokale and ‘Chiv Chiv Gubbii’ by S.Manjunath.

Prof. A.T. Sadebose, Head of the Department of Kannada of St. Philomena’s Degree College, critically analysed the contents of these books.
