Book release to pay tribute to ‘Abhimanyu’ tomorrow

Mysuru: As  a tribute to Dasara Jumbo 60-year-old Abhimanyu, who has carried the Golden Howdah in Mysuru Dasara Procession for the past six years and will be retiring this year after donning the role of ‘Nishane’ elephant in this year’s Jumboo Savari, two books will be released at an event organised at City Central Library auditorium, People’s Park, Nazarbad, at 10.30 am tomorrow (Sept. 9).

The books titled ‘Mounada Mahapayana – Abhimanyuvige Olavina Ole’ and ‘Abhimanyuvige Kavyarati – Ambari Veerana Akshara Gourava,’ authored by journalist Ithichanda Ramesh Uthappa, will be released at the programme organised jointly by the Mysuru Cultural Association, Forest Department, Mysuru Wildlife Division, City Central Library, Mysuru and Akshi Prakashana, Mysuru.

Wildlife photographers duo Krupakar-Senani will inaugurate the programme. Mysuru Division DCF (Wildlife) Dr. I.B. Prabhugowda and City Central Library Mysuru Dy. Director B. Manjunath will release the books.

Kannada & Culture Assistant Director Dr. M.D. Sudarshan will be the chief guest. Mysuru Cultural Association President A.P. Nagesh will preside over the programme.

On the occasion, Abhimanyu’s Mahout Vasantha will be felicitated by Mysuru Cultural Association Secretary Mahadev.

Journalist-Author Ithichanda Ramesh Uthappa will be present on the occasion.
