Books ‘Kannada Gandhi’ and ‘Sahitya Sangama’ released

Mysuru: Hoysala Kannada Sangha and Savigannada Pathrika Balaga together had organised a function at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here on Saturday to mark the 74th birthday of writer Prof. K. Bhyravamurthy and release of books.

Inaugurating the programme, Paediatrician Dr. H.B. Rajashekar opined that to arrest rampant corruption in society, an aptitude towards art and culture should be cultivated by everyone in society especially among the youth. He hailed Kannada as queen of all languages which has also acquired the classical status tag which it obviously deserved.

He recalled the contribution to Kannada literature from great poets like Pampa, Ranna, Janna and Kuvempu. He suggested that the present education system should not be just technical oriented but also focus on art and literature.

Writer Dr. Malali Vasanthkumar released the book Kannada Gandhi written by Ranganath Mysuru. Writer Dr. C.G. Ushadevi released the book Sahitya Sangama written by B.P. Ashwath Narayan.

Writer Prof. K. Bhyravamurthy was felicitated on the occasion.

Littérateur Dr. C.P. Krishna Kumar (CPK) was the chief guest. Former Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal and others were present. A Kavi Goshti was held later.
