Mysore/Mysuru: As part of its launch, the Mysuru District Wrestling Association will be conducting a Wrestling Tournament (30 pairs) at the wrestling arena of D. Devaraj Urs Multi-purpose Sports Stadium near Dasara Exhibition Grounds at 3 pm tomorrow (Sept. 10).
Announcing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, Association President Pailwan Chandrashekar Ittigegud said that the Association is being formed in order to strengthen and promote the sport in the district.
Noting that as part of the inauguration, 30 pairs of wrestling bouts will be held starting from 3 pm, he said that all the participating wrestlers will be gifted with a 5 gram silver coin and the winners will be given cash prizes.
The tournament will act as a booster for the forthcoming Dasara Wrestling Tournament, he said adding that ahead of the bouts, Pailwan Aziz Pathan will bring Sports Torch (Kreeda Jyoti) to the venue from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate.
A poster of the Tournament was released on the occasion.
The Association office-bearers Venkatesh, Chotu Rafiq, Ravishankar Palahalli, Rani Venkatesh and Prasanna Raj were present at the press meet.
