Brahmin youths must work to protect the existence of the community: Ch. Temple Priest

Mysuru: It is the responsibility of youngsters in Brahmin community to continue with the legacy and work for the existence of the community, said Chamundi Hill Temple Chief Priest Dr. Shashishekar Dixit.

He was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on ‘Purohits and Agamikas’ organised by Mysuru Zilla Brahmana Yuva Vedike as part of its first anniversary celebrations at Kalyan Bhavan on Thyagaraja Road here yesterday.

Calling on Brahmin youths to study Vedas and Upanishads for the survival of Sanathana dharma, he urged the youths working as purohits to enter the mainstream and added that there was a great demand for qualified purohits in foreign countries.

The Yuva Vedike also presented the ‘Vipra Dharmika Seva Ratna’ award to Purohit Prahalad Rao, Dr. Satyanarayana (Purohit, Vontikoppal Lakshmi Venkateshwara Temple),  Chief Priest Manjunath Shastry (Dodda Ganapathi Temple, Vijayanagar), Dr. Pradeep Sharma (Purohit, Annapoorneshwari Temple, Hebbal), Prasanna Hedge (Purohit, Sai Baba Mandir, Ramakrishnanagar), Vishwas (Purohit, Ramamandira, Jayanagar) and Varuna Prashanth (Purohit, Ganapathi Temple, Siddarthanagar).

Illai Alwar Swamiji of Melukote Vangipura Mutt, Muzrai Tahsildar Yathiraj Sampathkumaran, BJP leader H.V. Rajeev, Nataraj Jois, Yuva Vedike President Mullur Guruprasad and others were present.
