Mysuru: Former Oriental Research Institute (ORI) Deputy Director Dr.T.V. Satyanarayan claimed that it was the Brahmin community which identified the spiritual aspect of man and spread this knowledge to the entire world.
He was delivering a discourse on Guruvandane, as part of the valedictory of the centenary celebrations of Brahmana Dharma Mahasabha, organised by Brahaman Dharma Sahaya Sabhavati at a Kalyana Bhavan here yesterday.
For ages, the Brahmin community has been rendering service to the society without expecting anything in return. Brahmin came from the word Brahma and thus they have been sharing their knowledge with everyone. We are involved in performing the last rites and giving salvation to the souls and this is possible only because of the sacrifice through which we surrender everything, he opined. There was a time when without a Guru one could not learn anything. The true effort of a Guru is to produce a sincere Shishya. However, in today’s world it is possible to learn without a Guru, he said.
Even though there have been many attacks on our country, it has not impacted our religion, culture or traditions. Sanskrit is an ancient language and Vedas and Shastras are our wealth, he said.
