Braving rain, art buffs enjoy Dasara cultural programmes in city

Mysuru: Though incessant rain played spoilsport at Dasara cultural programme at Palace premises here last evening, a temporary small stage was created near Anebagilu for the performers who presented Odissi Dance, Sarod recital and Sufi music. The discerning music lovers, braving the inclement weather, taking shelter here and there, enjoyed the music and encouraged the singers and dancers.

Vidu. Rumindar Khurana from Mumbai presented Odissi dance followed by a Sarod recital by Pt. Rajeev Taranath and Sufi music by Ustad Lakhwinder Wadali from Amritsar.

Kalamandira: Shashikala Kulahalli and team from Vijayapura presented Hindustani music followed by a dance-drama by Sri Krishna Sangeetha Seva Parishad, Bengaluru, Mohiniyattam by artistes of South Zone Cultural Centre, Kerala and a group dance by members of Niranthara School of Dance.

Jaganmohan Palace: South Zone Cultural Centre, Kerala, presented Martial Arts followed by Bhavani and team presenting Karnatak classical music, Kathak by Vijetha Vernekar from Dharwad and a dance-drama by members of Soumya   Dance School.

Ganabharati: Gujarat South Zone Cultural Centre presented a Daangi dance followed by Hindustani music by Venkatesh Alkod, folk songs by Mudigunda Murthy and team from Chamarajanagar and a dance programme by students of Bhumika Dance School, Bengaluru.

Town Hall: Gurushantappa and troupe from Suttur presented a mythological play followed by the drama ‘Mudukana Maduve’ by Professional Artistes’ Association, Mysuru and a play ‘Narabali’ by Rangamithra, Raichur.

Dufferin Clock Tower: Uttar Pradesh South Zone Cultural Centre presented ‘Natavari’ followed by light music by Rudresh Ujjanakoppa and team from Koppala, revolutionary songs by Gramaranga, Pandavapura and folk songs by Maridevaru and team, Bengaluru.
