Mysuru: The Mysuru District Administration hosted a special breakfast for the families of Mahouts and Kavadis of the Dasara elephants at the Mysore Palace premises this morning. More than 150 members attended the programme.
The breakfast menu included obbattu (holige), dosas, idlis, vadas, uppittu, sagu, pongal, puliyogare, jalebi, tea and coffee. Minister in-charge of Mysuru district Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah personally served the food before joining the families for breakfast along with other dignitaries.
Later, the delegation visited a temporary ‘tent school’ set up in the Palace premises. The dignitaries watched dance performances by children of forest camp workers and distributed school bags to the students. Dr. Yathindra also inaugurated a Panchakarma Ayurveda Centre nearby.
A health check-up camp was also organised for Forest Department workers and their families in association with Sainik Multi-Speciality Hospital, Ramakrishnanagar, Mysuru. The camp aimed to provide medical care to those closely associated with the Dasara elephants.
Around 40 healthcare professionals attended the camp, which had five stalls and six counters.
MLAs G.T. Devegowda and Anil Chikkamadu, who is also the Chairman of Jungle Lodges and Resorts, MLC Dr. D. Thimmaiah, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, DCF Dr. I.B. Prabhugowda, veterinarian Dr. Adarsh, Palace Board Deputy Director T.S. Subramanya, Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner M.K. Savitha, DDPI Uday Kumar and Guarantee Scheme Vice-Chairman Dr. B. Pushpa Amarnath, former MLA M.K. Somashekar, District Congress President Beerihundi Basavanna and others were present.
Posters launched
With less than a month left for Dasara-2026, posters of various events including Yuva Dasara, Kambala, Raitha Dasara and Yoga Dasara were released by District Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah at Mysore Palace Board office this morning.
