Mysore/Mysuru: As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru, joined the nationwide initiative by Apollo Cancer Centres through ‘Check-Olate,’ a unique chocolate that delivers a powerful message ‘Take a moment for yourself.’
‘Check-Olate’ encourages women to make breast self-examination a monthly habit and promote early detection.
N.G. Bharateesha Reddy, Vice-President & Unit Head, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru, said, “At Apollo, we believe every woman’s well-being strengthens families and society. Through ‘Check-Olate’, we remind women that self-care is essential — a few minutes of self-examination can make a life-changing difference.”
Each Check-Olate bar carries a QR code linking to an animated video demonstrating a step-by-step breast self-examination guide turning a sweet treat into a symbol of care and awareness.
Dr. Ramya Yethadka, Consultant Surgical Oncologist at Apollo BGS Hospitals said, “Through Check-Olate, we help women embrace awareness as part of self-care. Breast cancer detected in the 1st and 2nd stages can be cured in 80 to 90 percent of cases. The duration and success of treatment depend on various factors such as the type of cancer, age of the patient, stage at diagnosis and size of the tumour.”
Dr. Naveen Jayaram Anvekar, Consultant Medical Oncologist said, “Breast cancer detected early is highly curable. This initiative bridges the awareness gap and empowers women to act on time.”
Dr. Ramya, Radiologist, stated, “Regular mammograms and self-exams are life-saving tools. Check-Olate delivers this message in a simple, relatable way.”
Dark chocolate was chosen deliberately for its wellness benefits rich in antioxidants and flavonoids, it supports heart health, reduces inflammation and uplifts mood — making it the perfect blend of comfort and care.
The ‘Check-Olate’ initiative by Apollo Cancer Centres is more than an awareness drive; it’s a movement of empowerment, inspiring women to prioritise their health through simple and meaningful habits.
