Chamarajanagar: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Police have trapped the senior Labour Inspector and the Computer Operator of the labour Department while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000 to sanction the marriage financial assistance at the District Administration Bhavan on Thursday.
Those trapped by the ACB Police are senior Labour Inspector Geetha and Computer Operator Malathi. Malathi has been outsourced by the Labour Department from a private firm.
C. Chethan, a plumber from Ramasamudra, a member of Karnataka Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board, had got married on Nov. 20, 2020 and had applied online on Dec. 19, 2020 for the marriage financial assistance given by the Labour Department.
On Jan. 21, 2020, Computer Operator Malathi called Chethan over the phone and asked him to come to the office. When Chethan went to the office on Jan. 27 and met Malathi, she took him to senior Labour Inspector Geetha, where the duo demanded a bribe of Rs. 3,000 to sanction the financial assistance amount, following which Chethan lodged a complaint at the District ACB Police Station on Jan. 28.
ACB Police, who registered a case, swung into action and trapped Labour Inspector and the Computer Operator while they were accepting the bribe and also recovered the bribe amount. In-charge ACB SP Jaya prakash, supervised ACB Dy.SP Sadananda A. Tippannavar, Inspector Kiran Kumar, L. Dileep and staff in the operation.
