Bring in road discipline by booking traffic violators

A Traffic Sub-Inspector is seen checking documents of two-wheeler riders near University of Mysore this morning.

Sir,

Mysuru city traffic is in a real mess. Riding two-wheelers with 3 or 4 persons, rash driving, speeding on the wrong side, jumping the signal, riding side by side talking loudly inconveniencing other road users and so on have become a common sight.

What is shocking is overtaking from left side on cross roads. One-way traffic is a misnomer as two-wheeler riders and autos dare even the Police to catch them.

Traffic violations are aplenty right in front of Police Stations. Why is the Police not assertive and book the offenders ?

As a student, my observation is that in Mysuru, Policing means only collecting penalty from helmetless riders and drivers of four-wheelers for not wearing seat belts! Traffic violations not only affect the violators but also seriously affect those road users who religiously follow traffic rules.

My appeal to the Commissioner of Police: Please bring in road discipline and book those who violate traffic rules. Shortage of Police personnel should not be an excuse, please go by what CCTV reveals. Don’t show mercy to the offenders.
