Begur: A 23-year-old youth succumbed to injuries while his younger sister sustained serious injuries when a car rammed into the bike they were riding near Garaganahalli Gate on Ooty-Mysuru National Highway yesterday evening.

The deceased youth has been identified as Mallesh, a resident of Alathur village in Gundlupet taluk while the injured is 21-year-old Manasa, who has been admitted to a hospital.

Yesterday evening, Mallesh and Manasa were proceeding on their bike from Dadadahalli side towards Alathur village when a speeding car, which came from Mysuru side rammed into the bike resulting in Mallesh sustaining serious injuries on his head, hands and legs. Manasa too sustained severe injuries.

Mallesh was rushed to Begur General Hospital, where he was provided first-aid and was later shifted to a hospital in Mysuru, where he succumbed to injuries.

While the bike has been completely damaged, the front portion of the car is damaged. Begur Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
