Mysuru: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Mysuru, is participating in the 83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. The moment one picks up the landline receiver, instead of a dial tone, the recorded message of welcoming people to the Sammelana is heard. It requests the people of Mysuru to be self-motivated and participate in the three-day event which began yesterday.
“The District Administration requested us to air the message on the BSNL landline. Since it is in the interest of the public, we are doing it. However, the users need to be educated as they are confused to hear the voice, instead of the dial tone and think that they cannot dial the number,” said a BSNL staff speaking to Star of Mysore.
The users can dial the number, even as they hear the voice or they can listen to the message and once it is over, dial the number. “We also air messages for campaigns like pulse polio and voters’ ID during elections,” he said. However, the Sammelana messages are there only on BSNL landline and not on the mobile phones, he clarified.
