BSP convention in city: Mayawati likely to address party workers

Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka State Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) General Secretary K.C. Puttasiddashetty has said that the BSP is planning to organise a massive public meeting of party workers in Mysuru city somewhere between Apr. 25 and May 3 and BSP National President Mayawati will participate in the event.

The BSP General Secretary made this announcement at a press conference held at Parthrakartara Bhavan recently.

“Our National President has directed us to field party candidates from all the 224 Assembly Constituencies of Karnataka and as per the directive, necessary arrangements are being done in this connection. BSP workers from across the State will participate in the Mysuru meeting and we are preparing to mobilise over a lakh of party workers,” said Puttasiddashetty.

“The public meeting will be organised in Mysuru after the confirmation of the exact date from party President Mayawati. At the meeting, Mayawati will speak in detail about the party’s election manifesto and the present political scenario in the country. Dalits and followers of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar will participate in the public meeting,” he added.

Stating that Backward Classes and SC/STs will be given party tickets in 100 Constituencies each and the remaining 24 Constituency tickets will be given to upper class candidates who are committed to BSP ideology, Puttasiddashetty said that the party has already selected 90 candidates.

State BSP General Secretary P. Shankar, District Coordinator Chandrashekar, leaders K. Shivakumar and Siddappa were present at the press conference.
