Mysore/Mysuru: Alleging that the Union Government has stalled 60 lakh scholarship of SC, ST students in the country, BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) President M. Krishnamurthy has warned that a massive demonstration will be held across the country if the scholarships are not released by Jan. 26.
He was speaking at the felicitation programme of newly elected BSP backed Gram Panchayat members of Mysuru region, marking the 65th Birthday celebration of BSP Supremo Mayawati at a private hotel on Sri Harsha Road here on Friday.
Alleging that the Central and State Governments were diverting Rs. 27,000 crore SC/ST scholarship funds for taking up infrastructure development works, Krishnamurthy said that the BSP will not allow the Government to play with the careers of students. He warned of a massive Statewide demonstration if the Government failed to release scholarships by Jan. 26.
Maintaining that the BSP was supportive of the farmers agitation at Delhi, he urged the Centre to repeal the recently introduced three farm laws and provide Corona Vaccines for free to everyone in the country.
Claiming that BSP backed candidates had won in 246 out of the 506 seats in the recently held GP polls in the State, Krishnamurthy said that the party organisation is taking the form of a movement and as such, the Congress and BJP have resorted to breaking the BSP by supporting splinter groups, which have come up under different names.
Appealing the ‘Bahujans’ not to fall prey to the designs of the BJP or Congress, he said that BSP workers must start working on plans for winning at least 20 to 30 per cent seats in the 2023 Assembly polls and at least 4 MP seats from the State in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He also called upon the party workers to make BSP Supremo Mayawati as the next Prime Minister of the country for the sake of Bahujans, who form the majority of population.
BSP leaders Puttaswamy, Arakalawadi Nagendra, Gangadhar Bahujana, Shivamma and party office-bearers from Mysuru, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Dakshina Kannada districts were present.
