Build-Tech seminar tomorrow

To highlight 3D Printing and Robotics

Mysuru: The two-day 16th edition of Build- Tech 2017 international seminar, which begins tomorrow (Nov. 17), promises to be more interesting than the previous editions. This year, the Builders Association India (BAI), Mysuru Centre, will focus on 3D Printing, Robotics and Automation in Construction as its main theme.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, BAI Mysuru Centre Chairman S. Mahadevaswamy said that the introduction to 3D Printing and Robotics will be a great revolution in the construction industry.

He added the BAI has always adopted the latest technologies in the industry to its fullest ability. “The very advent of JCBs and similar machineries has helped in the speedy excavation of the earth to ensure the construction works began faster compared to earlier days when the manual excavation by workers used to take a lot of time and delay the process. Similarly, the 3D Printing and Robotics will also ensure the construction is completed within a stipulated time without compromising on quality,” said Mahadevaswamy.

The seminar will not only bring awareness in the latest available construction technology, raw materials and equipment but also machinery to achieve better construction methodology which will improve the economics of the builders and contractors.

Build-Tech 2017 will be a common platform for the delegates to meet manufacturers, builders, contractors, architects, consultants, designers and heads of various Government Departments. It will also provide housing solutions at an affordable price for the middles class.

This year, the BAI Mysuru Centre will have a special guest, 19-year-old Chris Kelsey, who will give a live demonstration from USA on 3D printing. This will be the first time that such an initiative has been taken by the BAI Mysuru Centre.

The two-day event will be inaugurated by Dr. P.R. Swarup, Director-General, Construction Industry Development Council, New Delhi, on Nov. 17 at 10 am at Senate Bhavan in Manasagangothri.

BAI State Chairman S.R. Swamy will be the guest of honour. BAI National President H.N. Vijayaraghava Reddy will preside.

Soon after the inaugural event, the first session will feature a talk on ‘Use of Robotics and Automation in Design and Survey’, followed by a session on ‘Automation in Construction’ and the Day-1 will end with a session on ‘Robotics in Construction.’

The Day-2 begins with session on ‘Automation in building services and monitoring’, followed by ‘Use of 3D printing in construction’ and ‘Case Studies’ to end the sessions. This will be followed by a panel discussion before the valedictory ceremony at 4.30 pm.

About 750 delegates including engineering students, faculty members, builders, developers, members of other BAI chapters including Kerala and Tamil Nadu are expected to take part in the two-day event.
