Bus services will resume in phases post-lockdown: Transport Minister

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi, who is also the Transport Minister, said that bus services will resume in phases after the Government announces relaxations in the ongoing lockdown, which will be in force till June14.

Speaking to presspersons here yesterday, Savadi said that the Government bus services will resume with all COVID-19 precautionary and safety measures in place.

Stating that the operating staff of all the four State-run Transport Corporations — KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC  and NEKRTC — have been asked to get  vaccinated for COVID, he said that the Government will take  all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of all passengers.

Replying to a question on possible fare hike, Savadi ruled out any hike for now. Maintaining that the common man is already reeling under the effect of lockdown, he said that though there is a proposal for a hike due to rising fuel prices,  the Government does not want to burden the people further by hiking bus fares.
