Bus topples near Virajpet: 43 Kerala students injured

Forty-three girl students from a Kerala highschool, who had come to Kodagu on a tour, were injured in a road accident at Perumbadi near here yesterday.

In all, 68 students had come to Kodagu from Pulil Village of Iritti in Kerala in a Kerala-registered private bus. They were asked to board another bus  (KA-12 B-4272) at Makutta, bordering Virajpet and were  taken on a tour.  As the bus reached Perumbadi, the bus toppled whenthe driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a curve.

Circle Inspector Kumar Aradhya, Rural Police Sub-Inspector  Nanjundaswamy and staff, who rushed to the spot, shifted the injured students to a hospital in Virajpet.

Later, they were shifted to a Kerala hospital after first aid, said Circle Inspector Kumar Aradhya. The bus driver, Abdul Khalil, who was severely injured, was shifted to Madikeri District Hospital.

Virajpet Town Police have registered a case in this regard.
