Hunsur: A businessman from Hosaholalu village in K.R. Pet taluk in Mandya district was found hanging from a tree near Kattemalalawadi village in Hunsur taluk of Mysuru yesterday. Brother of the deceased, who suspected it to be a murder, has lodged a complaint with Hunsur Rural Police in this regard.
The deceased businessman has been identified as Devaraj, a cattle feed trader and a money lender. It is learnt that Devaraj had given Rs.10 lakh loan to Suresh and Manjunath of Periyapatna and the cheque given by the duo for the repayment of the loan had bounced following which Devaraj had filed a case in K.R. Pet Court. The Court had issued a warrant against Suresh and Manjunath.
On Monday, Devaraj had been to Periyapatna as Suresh and Manjunath had told him that they would repay the loan amount. But his (Devaraj) body was found hanging from the tree the next day morning near Kattemalalawadi village.
The slippers of Devaraj and a stick was found near the tree where Devaraj was found hanging which has given rise to suspicion about his death but the body of Devaraj bore no injuries.
Meanwhile, Devaraj’s brother Kantharaj, who suspected that the duo who had called Devaraj to Periyapatna might have murdered him, has lodged a complaint with Hunsur Rural Police. Hunsur Rural SI Puttaswamy, who has registered a case, is investigating.
