Mysore/Mysuru: A businessman was assaulted and relieved of Rs.1.80 lakh cash and three cheque books by two miscreants near Dalvoy College on Thursday night.

According to Police, the victim has been identified as Premkumar, a trader at APMC, Bandipallya, who resides near Dalvoy College. The incident occurred around 9 pm, after closing down his shop and going home on his two-wheeler. Two unknown persons followed him on a two-wheeler and waylaid him near Dalvoy College. Then they assaulted him and took away Rs.1.80 lakh cash and cheque books kept inside two-wheeler dicky.

The victim has filed a complaint with K.R. Police Station in this regard. Meanwhile, the robbery incident has been recorded in a nearby CCTV camera. The Police have taken the footage to identify the muggers.
