Mysore/Mysuru: A District-level Kannada Debate contest for high school students on the topic ‘The role of cities is bigger than that of villages in India’s development’ organised by Dinesh Coaching Centre was held at Ideal Jawa Rotary Hall on JLB Road here recently.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Prakash Prabhu, Senior Urology Consultant at Kamakshi Hospital.
Students from more than 25 schools took part in the debate and each debater was given a score.
Nadashri R. Bhat of B.M. Shri Vidyavardhaka School bagged the first prize while T.S. Vibha of Vijaya Vittala got the second prize and S.S. Deekshitha of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) school secured the third prize.
D.C. Gowri of SVEI school and K.P. Sushanth Raj of DMS (Demonstration Multi-Purpose School) received consolation prize.
BVB School bagged the Overall Prize (Rolling Shield) as their students S.S. Deekshitha and S. Gowrishree collectively secured the highest score when compared to the collective score of other schools.
Dinesh Coaching Centre Head N.V. Dinesh, Sowmya Dinesh, Prashanthraj, debate contest judges H. Sathyaprasad, Naveen, Hemalatha and others were present.
The first prize carried a cash reward of Rs. 5,000, second prize – Rs. 4,000, third prize – Rs. 3,000 and consolation prize Rs. 1,000 each.
