Mysuru: Charging that Planning and Statistics Minister B. Nagendra is a prime accused in the Karnataka Valmiki Development Corporation scam, the City and District BJP Units launched an indefinite day-night stir at CAVA College Road near Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Siddarthanagar this morning.
The stir is part of the State-wide demonstration demanding the removal of B. Nagendra from the D.K. Shivakumar’s Cabinet.
Addressing the party workers, City BJP President L. Nagendra said that B. Nagendra, who served as a Minister in the previous Siddaramaiah led Congress Government, had to quit after he was named in the multi-crore money laundering scam reported in Valmiki Development Corporation a couple of years ago.
“B. Nagendra was arrested and jailed in the case. He has come out on bail after being in prison for months. No one knows why B. Nagendra was inducted into the D.K. Shivakumar’s Cabinet. As the serving Minister is an accused, he should be sacked immediately from the State Cabinet. If not, the BJP would continue its stir until Nagendra quits on his own or sacked,” L. Nagendra said.
Asserting that 6-time MLA from the city’s N.R. Constituency, Tanveer Sait could have been given a Cabinet berth instead of B. Nagendra, he alleged that Nagendra has again been made a Minister due to some allurements.
Former Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha, District BJP President Kumbralli Shivanna, former Nanjangud MLA B. Harshavardhan, former Mayor Shivakumar, former Karnataka Exhibition Authority Chairman B.P. Manjunath and others took part in the protest.
