Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K.V. Rajendra has appealed the people to inform any violations of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) through cVIGIL App, along with photo and video evidences.
Participating in a direct phone-in programme on ‘Model Code of Conduct’ at JSS Radio 91.2 FM Station in city yesterday, DC Rajendra, who is also the District Electoral Officer explained about MCC norms to be followed by general public and the candidates alike in view of Lok Sabha elections.
“Children are prohibited from taking part in election campaign as it is a violation of MCC norms. If such cases come to light, the people can lodge a complaint by uploading photo and video evidences on cVIGIL App. Besides, the matter can be brought to light by dialling the Helpline Number: 1950, Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer can be contacted and informed along with the District Control Room,” said the DC.
Following queries related to delay in inspection at check-posts, misinformation on social media, fake news and transportation of cash and freebies, the DC assured to find solutions and take required action.
Addressing the public, the DC said “The people may feel inconvenienced, but the cooperation of public assumes significance during elections. They have to cooperate with the staff at check-posts and be a part of the election, celebrated as a festival.”
Officers from Mysuru, K.R. Nagar, H.D. Kote, Saragur and Chamarajanagar also replied to the calls during the phone-in. Shivakumar, the Programme Coordinator of JSS Radio Station moderated the programme.
Principal of JSS College for Arts, Commerce and Science Dr. S. Prathibha, Programme Assistants of Radio Station Ramesh and Kanyakumari were present.
