Call to students to make India a technology generator

Mysuru – Padma Vibhushan Dr. Vasudev K. Aatre, former Scientific Advisor, Ministry of Defence and Founder of Institute for Smart Structures and Systems (ISSS), inaugurated the two-day National-level Workshop on “MEMS & MICRO SYSTEMS” at Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology, Mysuru, on Apr.10.

Prof. S. Gopalakrishna, Aerospace Engineering Department, IISc & President of ISSS, Bengaluru, Vasu, Chairman,VVET and MLA, V. Kaveesh Gowda, Secretary, VVET, Dr. M. Ravishankar, Principal, VVIET,  Principals, HoDs and Faculties from various colleges were present.                                                                                                    

In his Inaugural address, Dr.Aatre spoke about “Smart Materials and Microsystems” where he mentioned how smart structures and microsystems can be developed for various applications by taking inspiration from the nature.

He also enlightened students about the emerging trends in Smart structures and Microsystems and motivated them to make India ‘a technology generator than being technology followers.’

Over 60 participants and 200 Engineering students from various institutions in and around Mysuru ­— ATME, MRIT, JSS College and  VVIET — attended the event.
