Call to Congress workers to strive for LS polls victory

Mysuru:  Expressing disappointment over the Congress loss in the Assembly polls despite the good administration of Siddharamaiah, former Legislative Council Chairman and Senior Congress leader V.R. Sudarshan has asked party workers to ensure the victory of the party candidates in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram birth anniversary celebrations organised by Mysuru District Congress at Congress Bhavan near the city Railway Station here yesterday, Sudarshan emphasised that the party workers should overcome all hurdles in ensuring the victory of party candidates in LS polls.

Underlining the need for the workers to introspect on the reasons for the party’s defeat in the Assembly polls, he said that it was important for the party workers to move forward and win the Lok Sabha polls.

He also cautioned the party workers against making any statements that embarrass the party.

Industries Minister K.J. George, in his address, said that Congress had formed the coalition Government in the State in order to keep out the BJP from power.

Accusing the BJP Government at the Centre of non-performance, he called upon the party workers to organise the party from the booth-level and thus ensure the victory of the party in LS polls.

Minister George, newly-elected Legislators Tanveer Sait, Dr. Yathindra Siddharamaiah and Anil Chikkamadu were felicitated on the occasion.

Marking the occasion, floral tributes were offered to the portraits of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram.

District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar,City Congress President R. Murthy, leaders D. Ravishankar, Dr. Pushpa Amarnath, Nandini Chandrashekar and others were present.
